Connect your AI assistant
Introduction
Connect your AI assistant to Upply to retrieve freight benchmarks and market data directly in your conversations.
Most supported assistants require only this server URL:
They register automatically with Upply, then ask you to sign in with your Upply credentials. Unless the instructions for your assistant say otherwise, leave any optional API key, OAuth client ID and client secret fields empty.
Menu names and feature availability vary by assistant, subscription and workspace policy. The sections below explain the setup for each supported client.
MCP support changes frequently across all these products. If a menu has moved or a setting is named differently, check your assistant's own documentation. The Upply side of the configuration never changes.
ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Custom MCP servers appear as Plugins in ChatGPT. You need Developer mode turned on. On Business and Enterprise workspaces, an admin may have to enable it or approve the plugin for the whole workspace first.
- Open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
- Select Plugins in the left sidebar, or go to
chatgpt.com/plugins. - Select the + button at the top right, next to the search box.
- In the New plugin dialog, enter the name
Upplyand, under Connection, the URLhttps://mcp.upply.com. - Leave Authentication on OAuth. If a Registration method appears under the advanced OAuth settings, keep the dynamic option, Upply registers your client automatically, so there is no client ID or secret to supply.
- Tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create.
- Sign in with your Upply credentials.
ChatGPT displays an Elevated risk label on every custom plugin, because OpenAI has not reviewed it. This appears for all MCP servers added by URL, Upply included.
Claude (Anthropic)
Available on claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cowork. The steps depend on your plan.
Pro and Max plans
- Go to Customize → Connectors.
- Select +, then Add custom connector.
- Enter the URL
https://mcp.upply.com. - Leave Advanced settings untouched — no OAuth Client ID or secret is needed.
- Select Add, then Connect, and sign in with your Upply credentials.
Team and Enterprise plans
Only an Owner or Primary Owner can add a custom connector. This is done once for the organisation:
- Go to Organization settings → Connectors.
- Select Add, hover over Custom, then choose Web.
- Enter the URL
https://mcp.upply.com. - Leave Advanced settings untouched — no OAuth Client ID or secret is needed.
- Select Add.
Each member then connects individually:
- Go to Customize → Connectors.
- Find the Upply connector, usually labelled Custom.
- Select Connect and sign in with your own Upply credentials.
This two-step design is deliberate: the organisation authorises the server once, and each member's access still reflects their own Upply subscription and quota.
Claude connects to Upply from Anthropic's cloud, not from your device. No firewall change is needed on your side.
Copilot Studio (Microsoft)
This connects to a specific agent you build in Copilot Studio, you need an agent to attach it to before you can use it (new or existing).
Add Upply to your agent
- Open your agent and go to Tools → Add a tool → New tool → Model Context Protocol.
- Enter the name
Upplyand the server URLhttps://mcp.upply.com. - Under Authentication, select OAuth 2.0, then Dynamic discovery.
- Create the tool, select Connect, and sign in with your Upply credentials.
- Set Authentication to End user account, so that each person signs in with their own Upply credentials. Do not use Shared account.
- Enable the tool for your agent.
This flow requires maker permissions in Copilot Studio. If you do not have them, ask your Power Platform administrator.
Configure and test your agent
In your agent’s Instructions, specify when it should use Upply. For example:
Use Upply to answer questions about freight benchmarks and market indices. Base market figures on tool results, and ask for any missing details required to run a benchmark.
Test the agent with a representative question and check that it calls an Upply tool successfully. Benchmark requests consume the connected user’s Upply quota.
To move further: make the agent available to your colleagues
Once you have tested the agent:
- Publish it in Copilot Studio.
- Enable the Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot channel. To make it available in Microsoft 365 Copilot, select the corresponding availability option in the channel settings.
- Choose how to share it. Depending on your organisation’s policies, you can share with selected users or submit it for admin approval for inclusion in your organisation’s agent catalogue. Publishing alone does not submit the agent for approval.
- Ask a colleague to test it. With authentication set to End user account, each colleague should sign in with their own Upply credentials.
Copilot in Outlook does not currently surface agents built in Copilot Studio, only Microsoft's built-in and declarative agents. Your agent is available in Microsoft 365 Copilot chat and in Teams.
Gemini Enterprise (Google)
Gemini Enterprise requires static OAuth credentials rather than dynamic registration. Contact our support team to obtain the authorization URL, token URL, client ID, client secret and scope before you start.
- Open Settings, then Manage team → Connected apps.
- Select Add MCP server.
- Enter the server name
Upplyand the URLhttps://mcp.upply.com, then select Next. - Choose OAuth 2.0 as the authentication method.
- Enter the authorization URL, token URL, client ID, client secret and scope provided by Upply.
- Select Add, then connect to your Upply account.
Vibe (Mistral)
- Open Context → Connectors.
- Select Add a custom MCP connector
- Enter the Connector name
Upplyand Serverhttps://mcp.upply.com. - Complete the sign-in with your Upply credentials.
- Enable the connector in your conversation.
Perplexity
Requires a Pro, Max or Enterprise plan, custom connectors are not available on the free tier. On Enterprise, an administrator must first allow members to add custom connectors, under Enterprise settings → Connectors.
- Open Customize → Connectors.
- Select + Custom connector, then +Add MCP connector.
- Name it
Upplyand enter the URLhttps://mcp.upply.com. - Expand Advanced settings, then select OAuth as the authentication method and Streamable HTTP as the transport.
- Tick the box acknowledging that custom connectors carry risk, then select Add.
- Select the connector, sign in with your Upply credentials, then enable it on the prompt page.
Claude Code (Anthropic)
claude mcp add --transport http upply https://mcp.upply.comThen run /mcp inside a session, select upply, and choose Authenticate. Add --scope project to share the configuration with your team through your repository; each developer still authenticates individually.
Notion
Requires a Business or Enterprise plan. A workspace owner or admin must first enable custom servers under Settings → Notion AI → AI connectors → Enable custom MCP servers.
- Go to Settings → Connections → Discover.
- Select Add Custom MCP.
- Enter the name
Upplyand the URLhttps://mcp.upply.com. - Authenticate with your Upply credentials.
- Set whether the connection runs tools automatically or asks for approval each time.
Dust
Adding a remote MCP server is an administrator action.
- As a workspace admin, go to Spaces → Tools.
- Select Add Tool, then Add MCP Server.
- Enter the URL
https://mcp.upply.com. - For authentication, choose Automatic, Dust discovers the OAuth configuration from the URL and runs the sign-in flow.
- For credential sharing, choose Personal so each user authenticates with their own Upply account. Shared would route every call through a single Upply subscription and quota.
- Select Connect. Dust synchronises the Upply tools.
- A builder can then attach the tools to an agent in the Agent Builder.
GitHub Copilot
Supported in the GitHub Copilot desktop app, which handles the OAuth sign-in.
- Open Settings (the gear icon), then MCP servers.
- Select Add server, then Add custom server.
- Choose the HTTP transport.
- Enter the server name
Upplyand the URLhttps://mcp.upply.com. - Leave Headers and OAuth Client ID empty.
- Select Add server, then Sign in next to Upply and complete the sign-in with your Upply credentials.
The server appears under On this device with a toggle to enable or disable it. A warning icon before you sign in is expected; it clears once authentication succeeds.
Other MCP clients
The configuration format depends on your client, the example below applies to clients using mcpServers.
Any client supporting Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.0 works with the same configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"upply": {
"url": "https://mcp.upply.com"
}
}
}For clients that cannot run a browser-based OAuth flow, use the mcp-remote bridge:
{
"mcpServers": {
"upply": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.upply.com"]
}
}
}Disconnecting Upply
Disable or delete the Upply connector in your assistant's settings. Revocation happens on the assistant side, not in your Upply account.
