Fuel Surcharge

Benchmarking can be done with or without a fuel surcharge, separating freight costs from fuel-related surcharges. The fuel surcharge is determined based on fuel cost fluctuations in the country of origin.

Market type

Spot and contract road freight transportation are two common arrangements for procuring transportation services by road.

Our API provides:

  • Rates with spot and contract
  • Rates with spot only

Spot market

Spot freight is an on-demand transportation. It refers to the arrangement where freight is moved on a one-time basis. Spot freight is typically used when there is an immediate requirement to move cargo or when regular contract capacity is insufficient or unavailable. Spot rates are usually more volatile than contract rates.

Contract market
Contract transportation involves a long-term agreement between the two parts for regular or recurring transportation services. It establishes a committed relationship and guarantees capacity over an extended period, typically spanning months or years.

Dates

The benchmarking process provides prices for specific routes on selected dates, including past dates starting from January 1, 2017 to today.
